Geek Dad book Review by Aurthur Ken Denmead

Okay so I'll admit that just like many parents I run out of ideas pretty quickly for entertaining the kiddies. The problem is that when the Mrs. and I run out of ideas, the default always seems to be TV which we all know is bad in excess. I'm sure we've all been in that situation before. A situation where we said why couldn't someone come up with fun and smart activities for kids to do around the house.

That's where Geek Dad comes in.

Not to elevate my geek status any higher, but I'm the type of Dad that can't wait to teach his kids about science and computers. I've always said that my kids will be the first on the block to know how to read binary.  I'm always finding myself wanting to explain to the kids (and sometimes my wife) exactly how and why things work. I guess this really does mean that I'm a geek.
My wife was able to get a copy of Geek Dad by Ken Denmead for me to review and am I ever glad she did. Geek Dad has chapter after chapter  of not only fun and entertaining activities, but ones that help teach my kids some basic science skills. I've only been able to try two activities so far, the exploding drink trick (because it was just so much fun on a hot summer day) and the Smart Cuff Links (because I've got lots of extra ethernet cable lying around), but each project was not only fun it was a learning experience as well.

Summer can sometimes drag on forever when you're a kid, but when you've got a resource like Geek Dad with over 30 actvities to do you feel safe that not only will the time go by faster, but your kids will learn to enjoy science and look at learning as fun.
